April 28th: BBQ Kings open for the Stephen Barry Band

Stephen Barry Band

The best blues band on the Montreal scene! This year, they’ll celebrate their 42nd anniversary. Led by peerless double bassist Stephen Barry, who has collaborated with such icons as John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton and Oliver Jones, this elite team brings us a timeless, festive and brilliant blues repertoire, executed with remarkable skill. The blues at its best!

Stephen was given the TBS “Blues With A Feeling” award for a lifetime of service to the blues. The band is now in its 43rd year of existence … one of the longest standing bands in the country if not the world!

Stephen Barry Band #4 “Would You Babe” @ Montreal Jazz Festival 2011:

BBQ Kings

Often called the most courteous band in the Chateauguay valley, the BBQ Kings have been committed followers of late 60’s and early 70’s blues-rock for over twenty years. In the late 1990’s they were inaccurately described by Audiogalaxy as: “Southern Rock, Honky Tonk, Contemporary Country: Down-home, good folks’ music that covers the range between tractor pull, beer busts, and pickin’ and grinnin’ on the porch. Ready to rock you and make you smile with its edge of intelligent downtown humour. If you like: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels. Releases rated 4 stars.”
