Terry Gillespie and the Granary Band
Amiably home made.
That’s Terry Gillespie’s new CD. This veteran artist offers new takes on standard blues and unusual original songs; he is passionate, pertinent, powerful, groove-heavy. Recorded live off the floor — yes, you’ll hear applause, street sounds, laughter and occasional conversation — Home Boy celebrates musical diversity, pushing the blues in different directions. It also celebrates the artist’s 70th birthday and a 50-year career. Gillespie came to Canada from the U.S. in 1968 and formed Heaven’s Radio in Ottawa, one of the most influential bands in Canada’s early rock history. In the years since, Gillespie’s non-stop solo career has been marked by five records and hundreds of live shows. He spends most of his winters in Jamaica, and lives the rest of his time on the road — occasionally retreating to his home in Vankleek Hill, Ontario.
